Free Truck Roping = Lots of Teams

Wow, we had an amazing turnout at the truck roping last Saturday. With almost 1,400 teams, the roping lasted until 4:30 a.m. It’s not often that a roping offers $27,000 and a new truck – for only $60 entry fees! I was glad we could pull it off.

The roping also offered free entries as a package deal, and free teams were out in droves. With all the draw specials, extra heeler runs and every roper’s free entries, we had 362 free teams! I’m pretty excited that I could give away these kinds of cash and prizes when almost a quarter of the teams didn’t even have to pay. And then, how cool would it have been if the truck or the roping would have been won on a free run? Maybe next time!

Congratulations to the truck winner, 14-year-old Carl Sweazea. The young man from New Mexico dominated the competition with 42 total points in the average. Second place for the truck had only 27 points, so way to go, Carl. If you need someone to drive the truck until you get your license, let me know!
